Please join me in welcoming Datrice Weathers, a dear friend of mine who will contribute to the blog with articles about her journey through motherhood.

‘Mommy you are tripping me out, you are so funny”, was the squeal of teasing that came from my 15-year-old daughter. “What is so funny?” I asked because I really wanted to know what amused her. “You, mommy!” more laugher, “You are sitting there writing all these cards and actually addressing them with stamps to mail!” she gives way to a burst of laughter, I smile at her innocence and put her on my list to receive one of my hand written notes to relieve her of her ignorance.

My daughter thought it was funny, I was handwriting notes to a few of my friends and family members when I could save some time & money by sending a quick email, e-card, or Facebook message. This is true, but what I was looking to gain is worth so much more. I wanted to brighten a day by allowing my recipients to see a card in the mail instead of the normal bills. I wanted to bless them with a visual instead of deleting before going on to the next. I wanted them to feel remembered and loved. I wanted them to feel good by using the old-fashioned way in this modern day & age. Could a hand written note really make someone’s day or was I wasting my time? What about you, which do you prefer and why?
