If you haven’t already heard the news, Solange Knowles has parted ways with Carol’s Daughter. She spoke candidly about her reason for leaving with Lurve Magazine. “I’m actually no longer a part of Carol’s Daughter, but throughout my entire time working with them, I was constantly fighting for the right message to be heard. The message that, the way we wear our hair is a personal choice, there’s no right or wrong way; one way doesn’t make us more intelligent, or more superficial, and every one makes that choice for very different reasons.” I don’t know about you but I’m a little sad to see her go because I thought she was a great example of a celebrity who rocks her hair naturally without compromise. We all know of celebrities who maybe natural, but choose to wear weaves to fit into Hollywood’s image of beauty. One thing I can say about Solange is, if she doesn’t agree about something, she is very passionate and outspoken about her dislikes. It will be interesting to see if Carol’s Daughter makes an attempt to find another natural hair celebrity to represent this part of their brand. I personally would love to see Jill Scott or Viola Davis in a Carol’s Daughter ad. What do you think about Solange leaving and do you agree with her statement on why she left?
