What an exciting year 2012 has been, I cannot believe 2013 is literally around the corner! Every year around this time I go back and forth about whether or not to create a New Year’s resolution list. I have always been a big dreamer and to be honest I do not like the idea of writing New Year’s resolutions. I hate the idea of looking back at the list and seeing all of the ways that I’ve missed the mark. Maybe my dreams are too ambitious and not realistic. I’m not sure about that, but I do know looking back on 2012 I am feeling incredibly grateful for God’s blessing in my life. As a result of working with a life coach, I feel bolder and more confident about 2013. So bold, in fact, I am going to share my top seven things I hope for in 2013. Here goes it….

1) I will create a schedule for my business and home and stick with it: This is something I’ve attempted numerous times. I have literally lost track of how many schedules I’ve created. This is extremely challenging but so necessary; my three daughters and husband need my attention. I will not work my life away. Whew, this is a tough one for me.

2) I will be a brand ambassador for a high profile company: I have several companies in mind for this, but I will spare you the details 🙂 I would seriously love to get my Afrobella on and do some traveling. I have never been to the Essence Music Festival; I’m just dying to attend.

3) I will be a better house keeper: You know how some women seem to have the whole cook, clean, and take care of your man thing down? Well honestly, I do not. I was fortunate enough to hire a cleaning service in 2012, however, the main responsibility still falls on me and I need to do better. Pray for me 🙂

4) I will be a more attentive mom: Some days it feels as if technology has taken over my life. My phone is with me everywhere from Instagram to Twitter and Facebook; it can be a little overwhelming to own an online business. I want to work on being present in the moment AND turn my phone off some days.

5) I will empower and inspire more women by developing genuine relationships: I’ve never been a person who has lots of friends as a matter of fact at certain points in my life it has saddened me a great deal that I can count my good friends on one hand. As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized this truth, you are truly blessed if you have a few great girlfriends. Toward the end of this year, God started to show me that what I do is really a service to others. I want to serve others and share my gifts and talents in a way that is life changing for other women. Who knows maybe I will make a few new friends while I’m at it.

6) I will pay down my debts: Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have that as a goal and for it to 100% true within one year?! That would be awesome, but I don’t think it is reasonable. Instead, I’ll just say I am going to put into action a debt reduction plan.

7) I will live a health and wellness lifestyle: I have not been consistent with healthy eating habits, exercise, or taking the time for myself. As a result, this year I’ve dealt with depression, weight gain, and feeling burned out. I want health and wellness to be something that not only sounds good to me but something that I live and breathe.

I really want to take a yoga class….

What about you? What are your goals for 2013? Be bold, seek God, and go for it! Cheers to your success in 2013 and beyond.
