Ateya Richards is a YouTube Celebrity, I have watched her videos for years I love her sweet personality and her southern twang cracks me up! Sister girl can cook, beat a face like nobody’s business and as a result her YouTube channel has over 81,000 subscribers! This past weekend I was super excited to see her at The Makeup Show and even more excited to interview her, hope you enjoy!
When did you start your YouTube channel?
I started doing videos in December 2007. What a journey its been so far.
What inspired you to start doing videos?
I wanted to do makeup professionally. It was like no one is doing make up for black women in my hometown so I wanted to make a difference.
Other than having fun do you have other business goals that you hope to achieve with your brand? You know its all in God’s hands. I want to continue having fun and what God puts in front of me, I will take with open arms and work 112% to make it happen.
What is your advice for YouTube newbies?
4. BE YOURSELF!!! Trust your craft and always keep god first.
What has been your proudest achievement since beginning your YouTube channel?
5. Motions. I admired that purple & yellow box since a kid. So to actually work with them, was an amazing experience. I will always be grateful to Brand Asset Group, Chris Lighty for that.

What do you like most about being a YouTube celebrity?
6. I don’t see myself as an Celebrity. I’m from a small town where everyone knows everyone. I’m just humbled that people appreciate what I do on YouTube. “THANK YOU SUBSCRIBERS”
What do you dislike about being a YouTube celebrity?
7. Well, I just wish we can support one another more. No one is perfect. So instead of cursing, just nicely comment or email. So much better that way don’t you think?

8. Of course you Rachel. But I don’t have a top three. I love EVERYONE, seriously. I learn from them all. Everyone brings different craft and I learn from them all.

What are some future projects you are working on?
11. Right now, I’m hoping to travel to Berlin Germany for The Makeup Show and taking projects as they come. Sky is the limit!
