On last Friday I was asked by African Pride to host “The Ultimate Beauty Social” this event is a intimate blogger and media mixer. Friday’s event was also extra special because the mixer was held in conjunction with A Mother’s Love:Beauty & Conversation featuring Mary Mary. My co-host Ms. Vaughn and I loved sharing our natural hair stories with fellow Chicago bloggers and answering questions about the beauty blogging industry. I felt so honored to host with Ms. Vaughn because in Chicago you can pretty much count the top natural hair and beauty bloggers on two hands. Vaughn and her sister Meechy have been in the YouTube blogging game for quite some time, I consider them trailblazers. If you haven’t already check out these Chicago Naturalistas.
Immediately following “The Ultimate Beauty Social” we got to sit back and listen to Erica and Tina share tips on balancing busy lives and motherhood. I enjoyed every minute! As a blogger I attend lots of events and I must say this event presented by African Pride blew me away and left me in deep thought for days. I want to give kudos to African Pride for choosing Chicago as the city to host this dynamic event. The conversation, encouragement and “keeping it realness” made a huge impact on myself and all of the women in the room. This was not just another natural hair event, it was an experience. Thank you to Erica and Tina for sharing your stories with us! After reading the latest article in Ebony Magazine I have even more respect and adoration for both of you. Check out the photos and best advice from Mary Mary.
My favorite quotes from Erica & Tina:
“Some days you make it and some days you don’t but every day you pray” Tina
“I try my hardest not to be a public success but a private failure” Erica
“Most older woman with great skin have a jar of Oil of Olay on the dresser, and so I went out and bought some too” Tina
