You guys send me awesome questions through Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. This one I have to admit had me stumped, I went back and reviewed information from all of my esthetics text books and I sought advice from a dermatologist. Edna asked the following three questions:

At what age do you recommend to start the use of anti aging products?

I recommend using anti aging products as early as 18. Even if you have no signs of aging such as wrinkles, crows feet or sun damage, anti-aging products help to protect skin AND prevent future damage.

Is baking soda good to use as a facial scrub?

My first response to this question was no, I wanted to double-check so I sought professional medical advice from Dr. Elton Tinsley. Dr. Tinsley says:

“baking soda has some natural anti-inflammatory properties, it can be used as a mask but it does not provide any exfoliation and therefore cannot be a scrub.” This was a new one for me to consider in my esthetics practice. I have used baking soda as a PH adjuster or buffering agent, it can also be used in skin smoothing powders.

I have very tiny dots on my face. Is this an indicator that my pores are opening up or damaged?

I hesitate to give my professional opinion without doing a thorough skin analysis, the dots you are speaking of could be many things such as a comedones or just small pores. My recommendation would be to schedule an appointment with a skincare professional to assist with your concerns
