I first saw Kate Somerville while watching HSN one night. After learning that she is a Celebrity Aesthetician, I instantly wanted to learn more about her brand and her career journey. In September of this year I celebrated two years as a licensed Aesthetician. I have many makeup artist mentors, but few aesthetician role models. I love to connect with people on Twitter so I started following Kate about a month ago. She is friendly and interacts with her followers often. I shared that I would be very interested in meeting her if she ever traveled to the Chicagoland area. She sent me information on an upcoming appearance she had scheduled taking place at Neiman Marcus in Northbrook, Illinois. Northbrook is about an hour and a half away from me…. (I almost talked myself out of going several times) but I really wanted to meet Kate and hear her story as well as get and up close and personal look at this luxury skin care brand.
When I arrived, I was very happy I made the trip. Neiman Marcus roled out the red carpet for Kate’s Master Class. Tables were set up beautifully and we were treated to food and a gift from Kate Somerville.
I loved sitting with the ladies and listening to them talk about Kate Somerville’s products. I have never tried anything in the line, so it was great to hear their experiences. When Kate arrived with her team of Skin Health Experts, we enjoyed listening to the story about her company. We also got to ask her questions. One of the attendees wanted to know if Kate had plans to carry her line in any other Chicagoland stores. As a mother, I loved hearing her response. “Business takes time to grow. I have a young son and I want to be a mommy to him right now, but maybe when he is older.” Insert big MomPreneur hugs here. Family first!
After the Master Class was over, we were invited to stay for a skin care consultation. I would have loved to stay for this part of the class, but I had to leave and prepare for a makeup job that took place the same evening. I purchased the Kate Somerville book and she signed my copy, I am looking forward to reading the book over the holiday season and it will definitely go in my library of skin care reference books.
