Finally a makeup post for you guys, my brain is constantly split between by first loves natural hair and the world of makeup! So, its prom season and we are just starting to get a little busy at the spa with requests for makeup applications. I love prom season because it brings back wonderful memories of being young and in love, believe it or not I actually married my prom date here is a photo that is a blast from the past…

I think I look like a Christmas Tree in this dress
I wanted to share a couple of makeup tips for all of the prom goers out there…..
  • I know Aunt Susie really wants to help you with your makeup, you see she sells Mary Kay and therefore she is a Makeup Artist, well not exactly there is a big difference between someone who sells makeup and someone who has actually been trained in makeup for photography. If you can hire a professional for this special occasion please do so.

  •  This has got to be one of my biggest pet peeves PLEASE! PLEASE! don’t match your makeup with your dress, that whole I have on a blue dress so I am going to wear blue eyeshadow went out in the 1970’s. Makeup should compliment your skin tone and eye color. If you match everything on your face with the color of your dress it is just over kill. Don’t believe me? take a look at photos of celebrities you will almost never see them matching everything.

  • In the weeks leading up to prom, please do yourself a favor and get a facial. Many teens suffer with acne and may have breakouts, if you go see an Esthetician they can help you achieve a clearer complexion and give you a home skin care regime.

  • Your eyebrows are so important so even if you don’t have money to get your makeup done by a professional at least go and get your eyebrows shaped, it can make a huge difference.

  • Have fun do something different add some lashes to really make your eyeshadow pop and make you feel like the ultimate glamour girl.

  •  Most of my clients are running around with a ton of stuff to do on the day of prom and this can make you run late to your hair and makeup appointment. Depending on the type of makeup application you request it can take an hour or more for the makeup artist to do a great job so be sure to give yourself and the artist enough time to complete the look you want.
  •  Lastly when you hire a Makeup Artist please trust their expertise and artistry skills, everyone want to look like Beyonce on their special day. Your makeup Artist will take into consideration your skin tone, eye color, bone structure etc, allow him or her to select the perfect look for YOUR features.
I hope I have helped you with my beauty tips, remember to have fun and enjoy your special night it will be a memory you will never forget.
