Nothing says hello winter like patches of dry itchy skin. I guess you can tell winter is not my favorite season! My hair and skin go through many changes. Luckily, since I treat this problem often in my skincare practice, I have learned a couple of tips that make a huge difference. If you didn’t already know it is recommended that you adjust your skin and makeup routine with the seasons. Today we will discuss skin concerns and tomorrow winter makeup tips.
1) Use a creamy cleanser and stay away from foaming face washes. A creamy cleanser will help to rid your skin of all traces of makeup and bacteria and depending on the ingredients, can also help add moisture to the skin.
2) Using a serum underneath a moisturizer at night will help protect your skin and give you some anti-aging benefits. I am currently in love with this one from Dermalogica.
3) A creamy moisturizer is key in helping to protect ashy skin. The Skin Vitamin from Life Organics has been working well for me and because the ingredients are all natural it’s safe for the entire family.
4) Don’t forget the key to alleviating dry skin is to exfoliate 2 to 3 times a week. Be sure to use a product that is not too abrasive. Try this gentle scrub from The After Affects.
5) In your bath pour a little olive oil to help moisturize your skin, I even like to use some essential oils for the aromatherapy benefits.
Good morning,
I recently found your website while reading a website about hair. I am 42. I recently purchased skincare items for the first time from Clinique. I have used them for a month and they don’t seem to be working for me. I guess i have “combination skin” my forehead and chin area are dry. However my cheeks and nose are not. The bone area under my eyes tend to get dry. If i use the moisturizer on my entire face, i get bumps in my temple area and a few small ones near my mouth. Do you think i am using it incorrectly or is this not the right skincare line for me. It hasn’t helped my forehead. I can rub my forehead and see dry skin. Oh, I am african american and i have medium to dark skin tone. I tried Philosophy Hope in a Jar and although my skin felt “dewy” I had to wait for the moisturizer to sink in before i coul apply my mineral foundation. I have never tried organic moisturizers and had noticed a brand while reading your blog. Please give me your advice.
Thank you.
Hello, would love to know what site you were on that led you here. Thank you for stopping by and your comment. Unfortunately it is very hard for me to recommend anything without doing a thorough skin analysis I would suggest you schedule an appointment with a licensed professional in your area. I also don’t comment on products I have not personally used, one of my favorite brands is Dermalogica. affordable and great results.
