I hate to admit it, but as the weather starts to get cooler, I know this means fall is coming and snow will be on the ground soon. Dagnabbit! To get ready for fall, on a rare Saturday off from clients at the salon, I decided I was due for a new look. I went to see Alana Snowden of the Styling Studio in Chicago because I wanted color and cut. I love color in my natural hair, but I have noticed that the chemicals make my hair dryer. When I went in on Saturday I wanted Alana to color my hair a shade closer to my natural dark brown and give me great shape. I shared with Alana what my goals were, and asked for suggestions. We came up with coloring my hair a dark red brown and this funky shaggy textured cut. The final look is very cool, although I must admit, it will take some getting used to because over the summer I have been a protective style, braid bun wearing queen. Here’s a shot of the new look along with some of my fave styles I have worn this summer.
Thank you to my very handsome photographer:) he likes it!

Rachel, you’re beautiful. Your hair turned out wonderful, the shape and all. Though I totally thought it was wild and sexy before the cut. Glad to know of a stylist in the Chicago area that can work with natural hair. Did she blow dry or straighten your hair in order to cut it accurately? Just curious, cuz I tend to do my own trims and I usually only cut it in its stretched out state. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Cheryl, Alana cut it while it was wet which is not the norm for my hair cuts but it still turned out great.
I Love! Luv.LoVe your cut hair. I’ve been wanting to cut my hair like this for about two months. Can you provide info of the person who cut it. Now I need some bravery.
