Last Saturday I was invited to attend the Prom Fantasy fashion show hosted by the RH School of Performing Arts. I was asked to attend on behalf of my friends at Avlon Keracare. The fashion show has been held annually for the past five years, and since I’ve never attended, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I only knew there would be a natural hair segment and a showcase featuring Celebrity Stylist O’Brien Lynch. The event took place at the historic Dusable museum and was hosted by Val Warner. Upon my arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to see a line of anxious attendees wrapped around the corridor. Clearly this was the hottest ticket in town! The fashion show exceeded my expectations and left me really inspired. I loved the high quality production that went into the show. The models and dancers performed impeccably and to top it all off, the RH School of Performing Arts gave away several scholarships. Talk about giving young people a great avenue to express the arts and making an investment into their future!Kudos to Rhea Henderson, the students and the entire staff, and a special thank you to Avlon Keracare for inviting me. I came to see natural hair but left with much more!
To get this look O’brien Lynch shares his exclusive tips:
For Treatment: “Shampoo hair and apply my secret moisture pack. It consists of Sustenance Fortifying Treatment, Dry & Itchy Conditioner and MoisturColor Conditioner for Color Treated hair. I use three products to create a barrier around the hair. The Sustenance gives the hair a barrier of protein, moisture & ease of combing; the Keracare Dry & Itchy Conditioner soothes the scalp offering moisture & a cooling sensation for excessive itching, and the MoisturColor Conditioner for Color Treated hair is a conditioning treatment that triples moisture needed especially when dealing with dry natural hair”.
For style: Start off by using Keracare Styling Wax to set coil pattern, twist the hair and apply Extra Foam Wrap Lotion to set the hair. To finish the look, apply Natural Textures Leave-in Conditioner & Keracare Silken Seal Cuticle sealant, sit under a medium dryer with a hair net to “set” the hair. Once set use a moisturizer to “break” up the curl pattern pull hair up into a slight faux hawk for dramatic effect.”
