Thanks to the folks over at Curlformers, I finally had the opportunity to see what the Curlformer obsession is all about. I’ve seen plenty of YouTube videos and blog posts about them that made me extremely curious. One of the benefits of having three daughters is that each of them has a different hair texture. Zoie’s texture is perfect for trying products. I know if it works on her 4a texture hair, it will work on all of the other textures in my household 🙂 After watching Natural Chica’s instructional video on YouTube we settled in with a movie, snacks, and popcorn for the Curlformers trial. It took about two hours to install the Curlformers. 

I used Jane Carter’s Curl Defining Crème, I think this attributed to me not being 100% happy with the results. If I had to do it again, I would use a foaming wrap lotion or leave in conditioner. I love the Curl Defining Crème; I just don’t think it was the right product for this style. Zoie slept in the rollers over night, and she loved her curls in the morning. I, on the other hand, did not like the ends of her hair; the curl was not as silky and curly as I would have liked. Zoie is overdue for a trim so it could have been that too. We took a few bobby pins and a little pomade and pulled her hair up into a style.


The curls did not last long, but hey most styles on kids don’t last longer than a few days.  If you are looking for a curly defined style for your hair, I recommend using Curlformers. I must warn you, the process does take a long time and your curls probably won’t last more than the three or four days, but I still think it’s a terrific option to show the versatility of natural hair.
