If you are a Makeup Artist, the place to be in Chicago this weekend is The Makeup Show. I attend this event every year as a guest blogger and it is my honor and pleasure to share highlights with you. Every year is like a“big ole’ makeup reunion,” because I get to see my favorite people in the industry and learn from the best. If you would like to keep up with what’s going at TMS this weekend, be sure and follow me on Instagram. Before I share what I’m looking forward to this year, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite photos from past TMS events.
Top L to R: Celebrity Makeup Artist Sam Fine, Santara of The Gorgeous Ingredient & Me, YouTube Vlogger Ladwina & I shopping at Nars, Celebrity Makeup Artist Danessa Myricks & Me, The Godmother of Brown Blogging Patrice of Afrobella, We all went to HS together >Nicole Rogers of Bombshell Beauty, Me & Ladwina

As always I’m on the look out for what’s available for women of color and what’s new and exciting. Magnolia Makeup is a mineral makeup line created by two sisters who hail from New Orleans. The highly pigmented color selection is amazing and a must have in your makeup kit.
Merrell Hollis is the key Makeup Artist for The Wendy William Show. I first learned of his work while watching YouTube videos. His creativity and techniques are a must see, and I will be front and center during his keynote session on Sunday.
This is my favorite video from Merrell Hollis
Danessa Myricks is the creator of I Make You Beautiful. Simply put, you will not find higher quality artistic makeup instructional videos anywhere else on the planet. I especially love the highlight and contour video series. I’ve also heard she has a new makeup sponge that is to die for! Be sure to visit her booth and tell her I sent you! 🙂
I had the pleasure of interviewing AJ Crimson at last year’s event. He was funny and very informative. I am most looking forward to checking out the AJ Crimson BB Creme. I just filmed a YouTube video about my gripes on BB Creme and women of color, so to hear he’s actually got all skin tones covered in the line is very exciting.
If you are looking for information on how to break into the makeup industry and begin working as freelance artist, you must visit Crystal Wright. She has books and other educational materials needed to create and maintain a stellar career.
Finally, don’t you dare leave The Makeup Show without skincare products! A makeup kit is not complete without great skincare to help create flawless skin. As a licensed Skin Therapist, take my word for it, Dermalogica is the best! I love the travel kits and I highly recommend them to clients in my skincare practice.

My daughter is an inspiring make-up artist and I would love to win the tickets for her. I want her to be able to network and see what a make artist does and to talk to the people who is actually representing the company. This will be a great experience for her and I would love to be able to give her gift.
