This weekend I had the pleasure of attending not one but two makeup events. The first event was The Makeup Show Chicago held at the Bridgeport Art Center, I attend TMS every year for the wealth of education, deep discounts and an occasional celebrity sighting. The second event I attended and had the honor of being a guest speaker is the Beat & Snatched Makeup Class tour presented by Shea Moisture and Mimi J. I had so much fun in one weekend that I really don’t know where to start:) On Sunday I started my day at TMS by listening to a keynote lecture on mastering social media with Lianne Farbes. Lianne is not just a blogger who knows beauty but she is someone who really understands technology, SEO and so much more. Lianne’s top tips for social media success include:

  • Begin with the end in mind develop a plan that includes your objectives and tactics  to help take your business to the next level.
  • Every business owner should have a great elevator pitch speech.
  • Social media is really about engaging and sharing with your followers. Don’t just shout out or “advertise” take the time to ask questions and listen.
  • Do tailor your content to the right social media network.

After Lianne’s awesome lecture I had to hurry and get shopping done and head on over to the Beat & Snatched class. As always  minority owned business were on the top of my list so I stopped and made my first purchase with the ladies of Magnolia Makeup.

I love the vintage look, and I bought several eyeshadow pigments.

I was so glad to meet Celebrity Makeup Artist Ashunta Sheriff, I hate that I had to miss her lecture but glad I got to check out her new line of foundations.
