Last night I took a trip to my neighborhood Target, I wanted to see what I could find in the beauty department that would fit my budget. I confess, I am a Tarjae-Ahololic; I should own stock in the company. Anyway, I went to the hair styling aisle first, to check out what new products were available for natural hair. I initially came across the Au Naturale line from SoftSheen-Carson; it appears they did their research on what naturalistas want. I noticed various products with the promise of being “anti-shrinkage”, which is one of the biggest complaints about natural hair. I  like the packaging and hope to share a review on the product with you soon. I looked online to see what information I could get, such as ingredients and product usage etc., but was unable to find much. I’m guessing we should stay tuned for an official launch.

Of course, I had to check out one of my favorite brands, Shea Moisture. Target had a fabulous sale on Shea Moisture’s hair care collection. However, I was disappointed. I desperately needed to replenish my bath and body products; no sale on that 🙁 I will keep checking…The soap, bath gels, and lotions are to die for and very reasonably priced.

From the hair aisle, I went to the skincare department; I think this is where Target needs to step up their game for ethnic skincare. No Black Opal, No Iman; not much at all for women of color 🙁 Walmart seems to have them beat in this department. Nonetheless, I picked up a bottle of Rosewater Toner from Burt’s Bee’s on clearance; it is just what I like, all natural ingredients.

In the makeup aisle, I loved what Sonia Kashuk has to offer. The knock off version of the beauty blender sponge is a bargain price of $9; it works just as good if not better than its competitor. I am often asked which line I would recommend for beginners that do not have a lot of money but still want to invest in tools and quality product. Sonia Kashuk has an extensive collection of brushes, makeup sponges, and even palettes. You can’t go wrong here.

Next week I will be sharing what I love in fashion from Target. Feel free to share stores or products you think I should consider for Beauty on a Budget.
