This past weekend The Chicago Natural Beauty Meetup hosted the Nia Naturals Festival, a celebration of Kwanzaa. In less than one year this group has grown to over 375 women. Since beginning my journey as a natural hair event organizer I have attended many events targeting women with natural hair. It is great to be in a room full of like minded women that enjoy supporting one another. Check out Essence Magazine Online today to view the photo gallery from Saturday’s event.
At Chicago Natural Beauty Meetup we strive to go beyond just the basics of learning how to care for natural hair. We are a community of women that aim to inspire, support, and educate those in the natural hair journey. The Nia Naturals Fest was an event with a purpose. We kicked things off with a Kwanzaa presentation followed by a fashion show, makeup demonstration (lead by yours truly:) and we ended the event by making a monetary donation to Pure and Sure, a girl’s organization that helps to promote abstinence.
Thank you to all of the event sponsors for donating so many wonderful products!
