This past Saturday was a bit out of the norm for me because when I’m not working, I try to use the weekends as a time to enjoy my family and take in some activities with my husband and kids. All of that changed on Friday when I received notice that Sam Fine would be in Chicago with Fashion Fair for the Truly Treasured Tour. As you know, I am a big Sam Fine fan and so is my 7 year old daughter. She actually requested a makeup job from him in this video, which is how Sam and I became personally acquainted. Zoie has never met Sam so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to have her tag along with me; however, things did not quite go as planned. Since I am such a beauty fanatic, I wanted to stay as long as I could and take it all in, but as some of you know, kids can be a little impatient. We still had fun and I just wanted to take a moment to share some of the event highlights with you.
I am such a Sam Fine fan I started clapping when my daughter and I came across this sign at the entrance.
The Truly Treasured Collection consists of beautiful shades from rich plums to warm rose for lips. I especially loved the rich hues and undertones, and I think they would look great on any skin tone. Clarissa Wilson, President of Fashion Fair and I chatted about the collection and what’s new for the company. Clarissa says, “Fashion Fair is the brand for grown women. We are committed to celebrating black women and want to make sure our customers receive the very best.” Clarissa says she received some questions about the decision to take the Truly Treasured Tour to Evergreen Park which is on the south side of Chicago. Most major cosmetic companies choose to focus their efforts on high-end areas like the famous “Magnificent Mile” in Chicago. Clarissa says, “We are not going to underserve our community just because our customers are in a different area. We want to make sure these women get the same great service regardless of where they are located.”
After my talk with Clarissa, I headed over to chat with one of Chicago’s makeup legends, Joseph Hampton. Hampton is the person who mentored Sam Fine and is responsible for teaching Sam some of his artistic talent. I literally sat and watched Joe paint this beautiful model’s face from start to finish.

Stay tuned for Sam Fine’s color cosmetic collection scheduled to be released some time next year. Sam was really excited to share with me that Fashion Fair will release a new line of liquid mineral foundations in July. Every shade is named after the positive attributes of black women. I Can’t wait to check it out!
It was great to visit with Sam and hear how some of the things we talked about in this previous interview are coming to fruition. #TeamSamFine #TeamFashionFair
Gotta love Sam for taking the time to pose with one of his biggest little fans, my daughter Zoie. What a great end to a wonderful day. Check out the Fashion Fair website to see when Sam Fine is coming to a city near you.
