First Aid Beauty is a fairly new company that was started in 2009 by Lilli Gordon, a beauty expert with tons of experience in the industry. She started the company because she could not find quality prestige products that would not irritate her skin and treat everyday skin conditions. All the products are dermatology and allergy tested as well as fragrance free and claim to do what the package says. They even have some FDA approved products that do not need a prescription and can be sold over the counter to help people who suffer from skin conditions such as eczema and acne.
I am a newbie to the First Aid Beauty brand (AKA FAB) and I have been dying to give them a try especially because of the cold harsh winters in the Midwest!!! I don’t know about you but my skin is dry, dry and oh yeah…dry!!! It seems like my skin is drier this year than any other year than I can remember and when I read that it is great for not just dry skin but sensitive as well…I was sold and I purchased a few products from Sephora.
Today, I am here to tell you about my experience with the Ultra Repair Concentrate. Every winter or when I have an allergic reaction to a product, I get dry patches on my hands as well as around the corners of my mouth and they can sometimes get itchy, red and just irritated. It started in early January right when the weather changed and thank goodness I had the FAB cream in reserve ready to try (yes, I have a reserve of products…remember I am a beauty blogger, no judging allowed) LOL.
When I opened the cream, I was a little nervous because of the thick looking texture. I was afraid that it would be too heavy and leave my skin greasy and cause breakouts. But, because of the love I have for my Beauty Scholars, I tested it to let you know how and if it works J Here are the positives: Although the cream appears thick, it is not once you emulsify it down in the palm of your hands. A little goes a long way, so this will truly last for quite sometime. It was very soothing to my dry irritated skin because it contains oatmeal, essential oils, botanical antioxidants and reparative ingredients. I also love that it is so moisturizing yet lightweight and you can use it on the entire body!!! The best thing is, they have clinical claims that state, “Within 15 minutes of application, skin hydration is improved by 116%.” Just to test it further, let’s see if my dry parched hands see a difference in the picture below (they are very dry because I have been sick and washing them like a crack head and not applying hand cream to moisturize…remember, no judging)…. LOL
Now I bet you are thinking that the cream sounds great that there can’t be any negatives. Well, there is just a tiny one for me. I hate using my hands to get my cream out of the jar. I would prefer a pump but this would not work due to the texture. So my final grade is 5 out of 5 smooches…MUAH. Ultra Repair Concentrate does what it says it will do and they have clinical claims on the website to prove it!!! It can be purchased at Sephora or firstaidbeauty.com for $28.
